 How to set up a POP3 mail account (Outlook/Outlook Express)

Setting up your POP3 mail account for the first time is easy!

Most email programs such as Outlook or Outlook Express are very similiar when it comes to setting up your email account. However if you require any further help or do not have your mail account details, please contact Aussiecom on 1300 300 350.

1. On your computer, open up your email program. Most computers will have Outlook or Outlook Express already installed for you to use.

2. Along the top of the Outlook or Outlook Express window, find and click the 'Tools' menu.

3. Then select 'Accounts'. This section may also be called 'Account Settings' or 'Email Accounts'.

4. The 'Accounts' window will pop up. Find and click the 'Mail' tab.

5. On the right hand side of the 'Accounts' window, find and click the 'Add' button and then select 'Mail...'

6. Follow the prompts to enter your Display name and email address.

7. On the 'Email Server' step, use the account details provided to you by Aussiecom.

For example
- My incoming mail server is a 'POP3' server.
- Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: e.g. mail.yourdomain.com.au
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: Your ISP's SMTP server e.g. mail.bigpond.com, mail.optusnet.com.au

8. Click 'Next'.

9. On the 'Mail Logon' step, use the account details provided to you by Aussiecom, once more.

NOTE
- Your Account name / Username is your FULL email address , e.g. joe@bloggs.com
- You may check 'Remember Password' if you like
- Do not check 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication'

10. Click 'Next'.

11. Outlook should now confirm the account is properly set up. Click 'OK' and return to your Inbox.

You may send yourself a test email to make sure everything is working OK.
